Toyota 2UZ-FE engine reliability, problems and repair

In 1998 in the Toyota UZ series appeared 2UZ and replaced the 1FZ-FE. In contrast to the 1UZ and 3UZ, 2UZ-FE engine used cast iron cylinder block. It increased its reliability and durability. At the same time diameter of cylinders increased to 94 mm, used the crankshaft with a piston stroke of 84 mm. As a result we got low-speed engine with displacement of 4.7 liter. The cylinder head is aluminum, with two camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder. The first versions weren’t equipped with variable valve timing system VVTi and had the power 230-232 HP. Since 2005 these engines got VVTi system and their power increased to 270-280 horsepower. The size of fuel injectors on 2UZ-FE: 275 cc/min.
On the 2UZ uses a toothed timing belt, which changing every 50,000-60,000 miles of mileage (90,000-100,000 km).
2UZ produced until 2011, than 1UR-FE replaced it.

Toyota 2UZ engine problems and malfunctions

Toyota UZ became the extremely successful and trouble-free engines. These motors haven’t design errors and disadvantages.  You can forget about problems if you in time serve it and if you use high-quality engine oil. Lifespan of 2UZ-FE more than 300,000 miles of mileage (500,000 km).

Toyota 2UZ engine tuning

2UZ Supercharger. Turbo

Elementary to increase the horsepower of this motor by buying TRD supercharger kit. These sets are put bolt-on and it provide up to 350 horsepower. You needn’t even to buy the forged pistons. Adding a performance exhaust system it is possible a little more to increase a power and to improve a car sound.

As for the rest it is the same representative of UZ  and you can make 2UZ Turbo or Twin turbo, by analogy with 1UZ.
