Toyota 2NZ-FE engine reliability, problems and repair

The 2NZ-FE appeared in 1999 and replaced the Toyota 4E engine. That new engine uses a modified 1NZ cylinder block. It is of a diminished height. They also used a crankshaft with a 73.5-mm piston stroke, new connecting rods and pistons. In general, these are the same engines.
In 2008 Toyota manufactured a new 1NR motor gradually replacing the 2NZFE in all the car models.

Toyota 2NZ common problems and malfunctions

The 2NZ’s problems resemble those of the 1NZ: knocks, rough idle, whistle, troubles associated with the oil pressure switch and so on, and so forth. You can get to know everything about these problems HERE.

Toyota 2NZ engine tuning

2NZ Turbo

You must take into consideration that NZ engines are actually alike. So, their tuning is done in a similar way. NZ turbocharger’s installing is described HERE.
Taking a smaller displacement in account, your 2NZ’s capacity will be 20% lower than that of the 1NZ, as a result of performance tuning.
