Introduction

Lexus GS is large mid-size rear wheel drive sedan. In the model range of the Japanese company, GS stands between IS/ES and LS. Despite the similarity with Lexus ES, GS model is rear wheel drive and it is equipped with more powerful engines, to this, for its interior better materials are used. To this, Lexus GS uses the new Toyota N platform, just like third-generation Lexus IS.
In the Japanese domestic market, this car was sold as Toyota Aristo.
The main competitors of Lexus GS: BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CTS, Infiniti M37/Q70, Acura TLX, Jaguar XF, Audi A6, Volvo S80, and similar luxury mid-size cars.

First and second generation Lexus GS engines are iconic straight-6 turbocharged (This engine is only available for the Aristo) 2JZ-GTE of Toyota Supra, as well as less powerful naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE. For the more powerful models like GS400 and GS430, V8 1UZ and 3UZ were offered.
The third generation began to use new engines. The younger GS300 and GS350 versions got V6 2GR and 3GR. More expensive models like GS430 and GS460 use V8 3UZ and 1UR.
Along with this, the third version began to use a hybrid engine. This model is called Lexus GS450h; 3.5-liter 2GR engine is used in it that works together with an electric motor. This allows for impressive 340 horsepower.
